The vision, concept and the philosophy of One Hand Cant Clap stems from African-Caribbean traditions. It relates to the traditional 'collective responsibilities’ of community lifestyle in which individual achievement is nurtured by actions and activities of a wide support network. In essence we subscribe to the view that it takes a whole community to raise a child.
Making change happen
The impact of the work that One Hand Cant Clap does with adults and young people is that:
- They translate collective responsibility into their own life context
- Find their purpose
- Become more action oriented thinkers
- We specialise in helping you to step off the threadmill, take control of your
life, and plan a new future.
"Its important for us to learn about the positive sides of proverbs because there were lots of people brought up on these cultural sayings back in the days who used to get licks for using them and quite often were told to speak 'properly' because it wasn't the done thing to speak proverb or 'Patois'. But now winning numerous awards in recognition for this innovative learning tool, and creative metaphorical language , is great and a major achievement...."
