Leaders Who Make Things Happen“Personal development is key to creating leaders who make things happen.”
A direct quote from our podcast guest Lorlett Hudson. Learning is growing because we only know what we know right now. We all need to continue to grow as it’s part of the process to get on a larger stage and become leaders who make things happen. Who you were yesterday isn’t who you are today. Our mind is like an elastic band we can teach it anything and if we keep practicing we will get better at the things we learn but it is important to take actionable steps after we have had practice. Lorlett has many tips for how you can improve and become leaders who make things happen. Strive for continuous improvement instead of perfection - Kim Collins
I met with a client this week, and we were reviewing the commitments that she had made during our previous session. On one of her commitments, she sheepishly admitted that she had only kept her commitment about 50% of the time. I congratulated her on her progress, and simply said “Strive for progress, not perfection".
Proverbs are a big part of West Indian and African culture and tradition, some are funny, others unforgettable and some may not make immediate sense! The common thread they all have, is that they get you to think, serving as a vital source of wisdom and therefore assisting in the development of everyday life skills and the not so common, 'common sense'!!
Lorlett Hudson, founder of One Hand Can't Clap had been coaching, running mentoring programmes and has created the annual event Common Ties and it's in its tenth year! Find out about the power of proverbs and what Lorlett created out of them in this RockStone ChitChat!
